MAPP CLASSES SCHEDULED TO BEGIN MARCH 2012!  If you are interested in learning more about becoming a foster parent or adoptive parent, please contact the foster care and adoption unit by calling 252-940-6023.  There is a pre-screening required before candidates are selected to attend MAPP classes. The MAPP class is a series of programs designed to prepare you to become excellent foster or adoptive parents for our children. The topics we will cover include: what is foster care and adoption, discipline, child development, gains and losses, and self esteem-just to name a few.  Agency employees may now be considered for licensure under the new licensing regulations.  Enroll now for the 2012 MAPP class.

Foster Care and Adoptions needs your assistance.  We need Beaufort County foster homes!  Currently, over 50% of the children in foster care are placed in homes outside of Beaufort County. The Foster Parent and Adoptions Unit is on a campaign to increase our number of Beaufort County licensed foster homes.

One of our recruitment plans is to speak to as many groups and individuals as possible, telling them about the rewards of making a difference in a child’s life through foster care and adoptions. Our presentation can last as little as 5 minutes if necessary!!

We are asking you to think about individuals or groups who would be open to our talk.  We would love to speak with church groups/congregations, garden clubs, social groups, ball team mothers, scouts, or any other group of people.  We are available anytime- week days, evenings and even on the weekends.  Just give us a name and contact information- we will do the rest.

We invite you to join our team!  We are asking for your support to help us provide safe and nurturing homes for the children in Beaufort County.  Thanks in advance for your time and thoughtfulness.
